For this second and compulsory internship of the course, we are required to make our own placement or take university placement in any company related to our field of study. After getting the internship notice from the school, I started to search for a company for internship placement. This is one of my opportunities for me to gain pre-professional work experience before entering the particular field after graduate. I took about 1 month time to find this company (Hugemice Events Management Sdn Bhd) which I have much interest on it. It is a company specialised in event management, it have the resources to conceptualize, plan and execute boutique to large scale events for individuals, corporations, charities and leading global brands. As the company has established for about five years, my goal was to contribute ideas in terms of marketing and planning, at the meantime gain knowledge of developing primary stage of a company.
Workshops & Training
With superior support from Taylor’s Career Services Centre (CSC), a series of workshop was organized to further equip necessary knowledge for students’ internship program. Attending those workshops give me knowledge out of textbook and classroom, such as the reason to attend internship, how to write an effective cover letters & resumes, interview skills, how to make good impression, ethics & etiquette at work and how to ace your internship. Taylor’s CSC invited few large companies to give out talks too. I am really appreciate for all the given workshops and training by them.
Setting Expectations/Goals
Able to build a good relationship with colleagues are very important to feel happy in a company. I do think the same way after the internship, because colleagues are the one who always support and guide me during this few months period. Good relationship with colleagues will lead to good team work and lead to quality work. Besides, I was expecting to enhance my planning and organising skill in short term while for long term expectations, I hope my slight effort would help the company to be one of the top in the industry. I would say I was well prepared when I get started as I was very excited towards this internship company that I have chosen myself. Lastly, I was mentally prepared for different culture and challenge to confront when starts work.
