Type: Visit to the kiosk and interview RCDMM members
According to our MIB, we would need to have a site visit during Week 4, which is the RCDMM’s kiosk. The kiosk is located at Amcorp Mall. At the moment when we reached the kiosk, we could see that it is being located near the main entrance, which is the pick-up and drop off point. As you can see below, the kiosk is in a very small size. The person who in charge at the booth is a deaf person too. Based on what we saw that day, every products at the booth were well-arranged. From this action, we could see that they could act like normal and have no different from the normal individuals.
However, due to the reason of speaking barrier, they actually gone through a lot of difficulties while running the business. However, they are still able to keep the kiosk operating is because they are really patient and kind-hearted. As you know, deaf people has the higher possibility of not getting a job compared to normal people like us. This is because majority of the employers in most of the organizations think that it’s inconvenience and troublesome to hire them. Not only that, the existing employees or workers will have the problems of communicating with them too. Therefore, it will cause the efficiency of work to decrease. However, there are still minority of the employers willing to give opportunities to them as they feel that they should have the quality of chance.
RCDMM is such an awesome path for the deaf people to work themselves out. It helps them to be strong by starting up a business and so on. It makes them feel no different from the normal individual. It makes them to experience a normal work life and stand out from the others who looked down on them.
